 began his thirty year law enforcement career in September 1960 with the Austin Police Department. Martinez is known for his role in bringing to an end the University of Texas Tower Sniper Incident on August 1, 1966.
After leaving the Austin Police Department Martinez joined the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Narcotics Agent where he served for four years. He then earned the coveted Texas Ranger badge and served for eighteen years as a Texas Ranger where he was involved in numerous investigations of corruption by elected officials and voter fraud in South Texas.
After his retirement he became a private investigator and later served four years as a Justice of the Peace.
He is now active in civic organizations and involved in The Former Texas Rangers Association and Former Texas Rangers Foundation.
